10 Fundraising Tips To Get You Started

  • Set a goal. By determining how much money you want to raise, who you want to contact and how you’re going to do it─ you are making things easier for yourself.
  • Create one sentence that explains why you are walking. Share it with others.
  • Send an email and ask your friends, family, colleagues, and employers to sponsor you. Log into your personal website and send away!
  • Host a fundraising party. Ask for a donation at the door and remind them this is for a good cause. Not only will you get donation dollars but you are educating people while having fun.
  • Double your fundraising dollars by asking your employer to match, or add to your total amount raised.
  • Use voice mail. Include in your regular outgoing message that you will be participating in this year’s WALK and are looking for sponsors.
  • Car washes, garage sales and bake sales are still the number one easy ways to fundraise from your home or work.
  • Display a “sponsor me” sign at work, home, school, or mailbox.
  • Organize a golf/softball/bowling/poker tournament with an entry donation for the WALK.
  • Keep a printed pledge sheet on you at all times. You never know when an opportunity could arise.
