About the Walk - It’s Been 25 Years

Living with HIV/AIDS is not a death sentence, it’s a battle. It’s a battle that doesn’t need to be fought alone. Support, passion and love can make a
difference, and 25 years ago the BC Persons with AIDS Society launched the first Canadian AIDS WALK to prove it. Since then they have been walking strong. They have been walking for a change. They have been walking for life.

As of 2007 HIV/AIDS affected some 66,000 Canadians, 13,000 of whom live in BC. The Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE spreads awareness of this reality and raises vital funds for those living with HIV and AIDS in our community.

But, the battle is on-going. As we go into our 25th year we have set our sights high because we believe the fight can be won. To do this, we need your
involvement.

Register now, and WALK with us on September 19th, 2010.

Donation Dollars

“But it’s just a donation…” in reality, it’s a lifeline.

All proceeds raised by the Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE in Greater
Vancouver become part of BCPWA’s Complementary Health Fund (CHF).

CHF? What’s that?

The CHF reimburses low-income HIV-positive members for health expenses not covered by other plans ─ up to $55 monthly. Even little things such as drinking filtered water and getting the right vitamins can determine the fate of someone with a compromised immune system.

BCPWA has over 4800 members, many of whom can’t afford the high costs of staying healthy. Currently we can only meet the needs of 500 members per month. But that can change. By asking each sponsor to donate a minimum of $55 you can help us reach more members across BC.
