Commit to help us provide a life line to people living with AIDS in BC.

After 25 years, you, the walkers have made things possible. By committing to raise money and walk in this year’s Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE you are making a difference in the lives of men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS in our province. Not only are you making a difference but you are part of the bigger picture. The walk is much more than just a celebration of life, it’s a symbol of love, reflection, tribute and hope─ and you’re a part of that. Be proud because we are!

Step 1: Register

A) Be An Individual WALKer

1. Individual WALKer – general participants
2. Student WALKer – participants currently in possession of a valid student ID
3. Extra Mile WALKer – participants committing to raise at least $1000.

All successful Extra Mile WALKers will receive Free 2010 Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE T-shirt and Vintage T-shirt; Commemorative photo of you at the Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE; Commemorative certificate celebrating your achievement.

As a participant in the 25th Annual WALK, you will be asked for a $10 registration fee this year. The registration fee will be waived for walkers or teams that raised over $500 last year. All registrants will receive a free t-shirt on WALK day. This shows an even greater commitment to the WALK by you, and will go directly towards services for HIV-positive individuals.

B) Form a Team

Work together? Form a team
Live together? Form a team
Learn together? Form a team

A team is a group of co-workers, students, families and friends that pre-register, raise money and enjoy the WALK together. Teams can range in size from 5 to 500 and the sky’s the limit. Last year teams are credited with raising an amount of $120,000 which is amazing! Need another reason? Teams have the potential to motivate and challenge each other, create friendships and offer exposure for your company, school or organization.  Start a team today and be the Team Captain – simply click on this link to learn more about being a Team Captain.

A $10 registration fee will be asked of each team member upon registration.

Step 2: Fundraise

Fundraise, fundraise and keep on fundraising. Don’t be afraid to ask for support– you’re making a difference and people will acknowledge it. By fundraising you’re not only raising support but you’re raising awareness. Try and make a goal of $55 for each potential sponsor. By doing so, you’re making a difference.

Set your goals high, win the prize

For every $250 you raise, you’ll be entered into a draw to win some great prizes! So, that means the more money you raise, the more chances you have to win. There will be a separate draw for teams, students and individuals including prizes such as:

  • a $3000 art piece by Uta Nagel for Top Individual Prize
  • a Samsung laptop donated by NCIX for our Top Student
  • a $500 pub party gift certificate from Ceili’s Irish Pub & Restaurant for our Top Team

We’ll be drawing the prizes on WALK day at 1:30pm, so be sure to stay close to see if you’ve won.

We want to help everyone achieve their fundraising goals. All walkers will receive commemorative pins for each of these impressive financial milestones: $250, $500, $1000, and $2000.
Please note: Walkers may only enter into one category when they register. Individuals who are on school teams are automatically entered in the top student category. Matching funds may be included in your total only if they are confirmed in writing by WALK day.

Pledge Sheet
If you require pledge sheets, you can download copies once you’ve logged into the WALK website. You will receive one pledge sheet with your Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE enrolment package. Please put your name and contact information on all pledge sheets right away. If you have a team number, place that on the top right hand corner of the sheet. Use a plastic re-sealable bag to keep your pledge form and donations together.

TIP: Try to get your first donor to make a sizeable donation – this tends to set a trend for subsequent donations.

TIP: Start a $55 dollar trend.
