Being a Team Captain
The primary role of a team captain is to promote the Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE within your group and to recruit as many fundraisers/walkers as possible. Depending on the size of your organization, workplace or family, you may want to establish a Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE Team Committee to help you accomplish your goals.
Here are some steps to get you going right away:
- Establish team goals like the number of participants and the total number of dollars that you would like to collect
- Recruit team members
- Set up a team website or Facebook page
- Educate your team by visiting the POSITIVE LIVING BC website to find additional information about HIV and AIDS
- Invite Shannon, our WALK Fundraising Coordinator, to come down to your office and give a presentation
- Ensure there are regular updates within your team. Start by sending an email every two weeks
- Organize fundraising activities at work
